Jorge Colombo was born in 1963 in Lisbon, Portugal; moved to the USA in 1989. Has lived in Chicago and in San Francisco. Living in New York City since 1998 with his wife, artist Amy Yoes.
Everything the video “Self-Portrait” says is true -- it's a verbal self-portrait listing salient aspects of the author, set over dance movements that culminate in his absence. The footage does indeed show the full extent of Jorge’s dancing in the past 15 years; he was ready to be mocked for his incompetence, but people seem tolerant, he says. He guesses they have seen even worse on dance floors around.
Jorge has worked as an illustrator, as a photographer, and as a graphic designer. Since 2003 he started working on digital videos, initially restricting himself to one-minute movies, and lately moving into longer projects.
