Kotaro Tanaka was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1979. He is a filmmaker, VJ (a.k.a SH2-276, one of Bysexual team), and part-time film instructor. He is a member of the collective Tokyo Eizo Brig, and a member of SVP2 (Spread Videoart Project 2). Tanaka has exhibited his works at home and abroad.
In his work, Tanaka attempts to expand the meaning and concept of 'gazing,' a major theme of his. He also explores how to narrate stories without common scripts, using only vision and audio. He is looking for a new narrative and a major change in cinema.
