Sara Bjarland
Interruption
Sara was born in Helsinki, Finland in 1981. At 20 she moved to the UK to study photography, and then moved on to do a MFA at the Slade School of Fine Art in London. She is currently living and working in Amsterdam.

In her work Sara explores the relationship between the moving and the still image. Using both moving and still media like video, animation and slide projections, she uses the frame as an enclosed space where movement can be represented, repeated, and trapped. She often animates mundane, inanimate objects, and thus plays with the notion of animation as “giving movement” to the still and frozen.

Recent screenings include AURORA International Animation Festival in Norwich, and the Circles and Loops exhibition at the House gallery, London.
